# FILE AN EXTENSION FOR YOUR INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RETURN

## Need more time to file your tax return?

### We can help you...

If you are a new or current client of AEMC who will need more time to file your individual income tax return, we can file a federal and state (if applicable) tax extension on your behalf.  **There is a fee of $150 for this service, however this fee will be credited towards your tax preparation fee.** Just complete the form and press the submit button and we'll contact you within 48 hours.

Here are a few facts about how tax extensions work:

- Filing an extension gives you an additional six months to file your individual tax return (usually October 15th);

- Extensions must be filed before the original deadline date of your individual income tax return (usually April 15th);

- You must pay the amount of taxes you plan to owe by the original tax deadline in order to avoid late payment penalties and interest;

- Filing an extension will help you avoid late filing penalties and interest that can be assessed for not filing your return on time.  **It does not extend your time to PAY your taxes, if you owe**.

 

### Additional Request for New Clients:

If you are new to AEMC, we will need the following information to fulfill your tax extension request:

- Copy of prior year's tax return
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
